‘WHEN I BEAT HIM I WANT EVERYBODY TO BOW TO MY FEET’ – Anthony Joshua on Andy Ruiz & Deontay Wilder
What did Joshua learn from his loss to Ruiz in June 2019?
Anthony Joshua, the current heavyweight boxing champion of the world, has set his sights on his next two opponents, Andy Ruiz Jr. and Deontay Wilder.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Joshua expressed his desire to beat both fighters and have everyone bow down to his feet.
“Ruiz and Wilder are both remarkable fighters, and I respect them for that,” Joshua said. “But when I beat them, I want everybody to bow to my feet. I want to prove that I am the best heavyweight in the world, and no one can stand against me.”
Joshua’s confidence is commendable, considering his recent loss to Ruiz in June 2019, where he lost his WBA, WBO, and IBF world titles in a shocking defeat. However, Joshua reclaimed the titles in the rematch against Ruiz in December, displaying his mental fortitude and resilience.
“I learned a lot from that loss,” Joshua said. “I realized that anything can happen in the ring, and you can never underestimate your opponent. I came back stronger and more focused, and I showed the world what I am capable of.”
Joshua has been on an impressive winning streak, with 24 of his 25 fights ending in knockouts. His only loss to Ruiz has only made him more determined to prove himself as the best.
“I want to unify the heavyweight division and leave a lasting legacy,” Joshua said. “I want to be remembered as the greatest heavyweight of all time.”
Joshua is set to face off against Kubrat Pulev on December 12, 2020, in London, and if he comes out victorious, he hopes to take on Wilder and Ruiz in the future.
“I have nothing but respect for them, and I know they will be tough opponents,” Joshua said. “But I am ready for anything, and I will do whatever it takes to win.”
Joshua’s ambition and drive make him an exciting figure in the world of boxing, and his upcoming fights will undoubtedly be highly anticipated events.
