Who is Patrick Mazeika and what is his role in the MLB?
On July 31st, 2021, a heartwarming moment unfolded during an interview with Major League Baseball (MLB) player, Patrick Mazeika, after his son, Joseph Mazeika, hit his first-ever home run in the MLB. The 27-year-old catcher, who was recently called up from the minor leagues to play for the New York Mets, was being interviewed by SNY, a regional sports network, when he was interrupted by his beaming father.
During the interview, SNY’s reporter, Steve Gelbs, asked Patrick about his son’s accomplishment, to which he replied, “I haven’t really been able to celebrate. I mean, I watched the game last night and when he hit it, I sort of stopped the interview and celebrated with my family.”
However, as if on cue, Joseph’s father appeared on screen, prompting Gelbs to greet him with a warm smile, saying, “Hey, congratulations, big fella.” Patrick’s father then chimed in, saying, “Hey, I just wanted to say congratulations to Joseph for hitting his first home run in the major leagues.”
Taking the opportunity to celebrate his son’s achievement, Patrick then called out to his family, who were gathered in the living room, “Hey, everybody, dad’s on TV. Say hello!” The room erupted in cheer and applause as Patrick’s father continued to express his pride and excitement for his son.
As the interview came to a close, Patrick expressed his gratitude for his father’s support, saying, “It means everything to me. He’s the backbone of the family, and he’s been there for us through everything. So, it’s good to be able to share this moment with him.”
The heartwarming moment between Patrick and his father serves as a reminder of the importance of family support and how it can make a significant impact on one’s life. Joseph’s achievement has not only brought joy and pride to his father but also to his family and fans all over the world.
In a world where we are often preoccupied with work and personal endeavors, it is refreshing to witness moments like this that remind us of the importance of taking time to celebrate life’s milestones with loved ones. Joseph’s accomplishment will certainly be memorialized in the history of MLB, but even more so in the hearts of his family and those who have been touched by this sweet and endearing moment.
